Iris runs around the apartment, gathering as much food and baked goods as she can find before she sprints out the door and up the stairs to Kennedy's apartment.
"Kennedy!!!" she calls, squeaking with excitement as she kicks the door, arms too full of food to properly knock.
Kennedy swings the door open, a huge smile on her face. "Baby!" She shoves the food out of the way, sweeping Iris into a huge hug. "Did you miss me or did you miss me?"
"I missed you so much!" she cries, clinging to her friend like she'd come back from the dead. "You were gone so long and I had no one else that compared to you!! When did you get back?! Did you have a good time on tour?!"
"Ooooh, don't do that!" Kennedy knew her reunion with Iris would be sappy. "I'm so sorry I made you suffer without me. I just got back today. Had to stop by the shop and check up on things, but you were my first text. I hope you feel special as hell."
Releasing her grip, Kennedy pries Iris out of the hug and tugs her into the apartment. "It was so much fun! I sent you a lot of pictures, but I took way more. I'll get them printed and we can have a girls night and I can tell you the story behind every one. But that's boring right now, what about you?? I feel like I've missed so much!"
"I feel so special!" Iris grins, wiping at her sudden tears as she's hauled into the room. "We need a girls night ASAP and I'll bring you even more food, okay?"
She tugs her friend into another hug, cherishing the fact that she can. "Umm... Jason and I are living together now. Permanently. And I've made some more friends, and I'm working at the school now!"
"Deal! Name the night and I'll clear my sadly open schedule!"
Kennedy laughs and returns the hug before pulling Iris to the floor where she just has pillows and blankets spread out for the time being. "Really?? So I take it that means you're getting along alright," she grins. "Are you getting along more than alright?"
Iris ends up practically entangled with Kennedy as she refuses to let go of her. "Friday?" she grins, tilting her head happily. "Its a half day this Friday so I can come home and bake and bring over the results and then I don't work this weekend!"
A blush creeps up her neck and over her cheeks and Iris fights the urge to duck her head in embarrassment. "Um... We've kind of said we love each other. And I mean, we're sleeping in the same bed now so..." She shrugs slightly. "I love him, Kennedy. More than I can put into words."
Kennedy opens the calendar in her phone. "Hmm...I have like a billion signings and tea with the Queen, but I'll reschedule it all for you." She smiles, pulling Iris into another hug. "Uughh I missed you most of all."
"Really?" She pulls back to look at Iris and her smile gets bigger at the way her friend's cheeks colour. "Awwww you love him. And he loves you. I told you, I freaking told you when you were like "Nooo, we're just friends.""
Giggling, Iris flaps a hand dismissively. "Well, I mean... We were just friends then! And now we're more. So much more," she shrugs. "Enough about me though, how were your adventures??"
"Oh man you were 'just friends who totally had the hots for each other' don't even." Kennedy tugs open oner of the containers of food Iris brought, eating it right out of the can. Being away for so long hasn't been the best for her, because she's suddenly forgotten how to take care of herself. "Amaaaazing," she says around a mouthful of lasagna. "I met so many wonderful people, I wish you were there! Got some pretty sweet new art supplies too, don't be jealous."
Iris shakes her head, amused by her friend and remembering just how much she'd missed her. "I am so jealous, what with all my art expertise," she chuckles, turning and starting to dig through her boxes for a plate. "I got a guitar while you were away. Or, rather... Jason got it for me. I'm taking lessons for it now. So we can both be artsy in different ways!"
"You did? That was sweet of him." Kennedy smiles, scooting in front of Iris and crossing her legs. "Does that mean you'll come to the shop and serenade me while I paint?" she asks, batting her lashes.
She finally tugs a plate out of a box, dusting it off and handing it to Kennedy. "Use a plate, you heathen," she chuckles. "And I will totally serenade you. Jason gets first serenade but you're second, okay. I'll sing you anything you want me to."
"Fine, mom." Kennedy takes the plate and piles some of the food on top, licking her fingers clean. "MMmmm, perfect, gives me a time to line up a list of requests. I'm gonna need so much inspiration, Iris. My muse...she's been blocked." Kennedy says it a bit dramatically, even though she's not too upset by it. Lack of art means a lack of visions and that's more than okay with her for now.
"I have a lot of pieces in stock, love, no worries for now. It's a nice break, but I'm sure it'll lead to some kind of creative outburst or a complete breakdown. Either way, art!!"
"No breakdown," Iris pouts, leaning over and hugging her friend. "Creative outburst, fine. But no breakdown. And you have to let me take care f you if you insist on spending days being artsy again."
Iris was born into one of the oldest siren families in Greece and inherited her mother's powers. Due to an unfortunate car accident when she was only 6, she was shuttled off to family who didn't know about her heritage. Between their emotional abuse and the trauma of the accident, she repressed all memories of having powers. At 25, she finally broke away from them, moving to Siren Cove.
