littleredsiren: ([sad] worried puppy)
When Jason shows up at the apartment looking dishevelled and bloody, Iris can feel her stomach drop with worry. When he assures her he's fine and explains what happened, she feels it drop further. Sitting him down, she gets him ice for his bruises and kisses him gently before he once more assures her he's okay and that its fine if she wants to check up on Davin. Biting her lip, she waffles for a bare moment before grabbing her purse and a box of fresh brownies and disappearing out the door.

She practically sprints the entire way to the hospital, showing up at the reception completely out of breath and so overwhelmed that the receptionist initially assumes she's there for herself and attempts to usher her into a wheelchair. Shaking her head, Iris explains the situation, tears beading up in her eyes as she goes into it. A bit of negotiation and some more tears, and she's directed to the room where the doctors have left Davin to rest and recover.

"Davin?" she calls softly, knocking lightly at the door as she opens it. "It's me, Iris... Can I come in?"

Though she'd stayed with Lara for a few hours as until she calmed down, Iris knew there was no way she could stay much longer. She had Eric and Alfredo to look after, and what if Jason came back somehow?

So, borrowing a flashlight and giving her friend a hug and a word of thanks, Iris went back into the dark of the streets.  Calmer now, its easier to find her way back to the apartments. She's thankful the doors are old fashioned key locks rather than electronic ones so there are no issues getting in.

Iris is barely in the door when she feels the weight of their animals slamming into her legs. Laughing tearily, she kneels and wraps them both up in hugs, snuggling into their fur. "I'm sorry I was gone so long, guys. I got lost," she coos. "Come on, let's make sure everything is okay in here and wait for Jason to get back..."

Candles lit, knocked over tables righted, Iris curls up on the couch, flanked by the animals. Settling into the cushions, she quietly chews at her nails, trying not to focus on what might have happened to Jason in the mean time.

It had been a few days since Iris' first encounter with Davin. If she was being honest, her promise to bring him a meal to pay him back for finding her keys had completely slipped her mind. But, thankfully, she'd remembered as soon as she'd woken up this morning, and spent the better part of the day putting together a variety of dishes.

So now she was on his door step, arms loaded down with spanakopita, lemon chicken soup, and a variety of baked desserts, all for her new friend. He certainly wouldn't be going hungry any time soon, if she had anything to say about it.

She'd been worrying about this all week. It was one thing for her friends to say they wouldn't freak out at her siren-ness, and another thing completely for them to actually see it. She'd set up three different times for them to meet, figuring one-on-one would probably be a bit easier to handle.

Iris flitted around her kitchen all morning, putting together a picnic basket with different treats inside. It all quickly started to get out of hand and she was glad she'd set up a plan with Jason to provide meals for the other homeless people in town, because she had way too much for just four people right now.

A quick glance at the clock nearly sends her into another fit of panic. Throwing on a bathing suit under a cover up and grabbing her basket, she makes her way to the beach nearest the docks in a hurry.

No one's there when she gets there and she breathes a sigh of relief, setting down the basket and hauling off the cover up, heading into the surf to swim off her nerves until someone shows up.

Iris had given Lara a call the night before to find out when the best time to come in for her next lesson was. Having confirmed that today was good, she finds herself standing in front of the Watersong, nervously biting her nails. She's excited to get her powers under control and heartened by Lara's praise that day at the beach, but she still feels that weird test anxiety she used to get in school. Breathing slowly, she calms herself down and finally steps into the club, looking around for someone to direct her to Lara.

She hovers around the bar for a moment before the bartender, Mark? Matt? (She should probably ask Lara at some point...) emerges from a sideroom and asks if he can help her. She flashes him a nervous grin. "I'm here to see Lara for a... lesson?"

Nodding, he lets her into the back rooms. "Lara?" she calls, peering about. "It's Iris. I brought cupcakes... I hope I'm not late?"

Iris is fairly sure the book she grabbed from the library (after cajoling the lady who was working today into letting her in with Erik in her arms) on goat care was up to date, but she'd be checking the internet later just to make sure.  For now, she finds herself stopping at the pet store and leaving with bags full of alfalfa, and treats especially made for farm animals. She's struggling under the weight of a little box like device that the owner assured her would be suitable and once she reaches the park, she just gives up.

Flopping back on the grass, surrounded by bags and a happy little goat, she sighs happily. The sun soaks into her skin and she can feel her muscles, tense from anxiety and the weight of her bags, relaxing. It's only a few more blocks to her apartment, and for now, she's content to just lay here with her goat for awhile.

ooc: this is literally just b/c I'm bored and Iris now owns a goat named Erik and it's probably my favourite thing to ever happen k bye (and we're so pretending goats can be indoor animals don't look at meeeee)

It's been nearly a week since her meeting with Lara and she still hasn't taken the time to practice her transformations. Waking from a nightmare at nearly 5 in the morning seems like the perfect cue to get out to the sea side when no one's around to work on it. Throwing on a bathing suit and tossing a few things, including a breakfast in case she stays late, she slips out of the apartment building and down to a fairly secluded part of the shore.

Iris stretches out happily once she gets to the beach, her toes curling into the sand as her spine pops. She'd left a message in his letterbox for Bach to meet her for his first lesson today, but didn't specify a time. She was planning on spending the entire day here anyway, so why bother? Peeling off the large shirt she used to cover her bathing suit, for modest of course, she folds it carefully before heading to the water's edge.

Tiny waves lap at her feet invitingly, probably colder than might be comfortable for most, but she'd never had an issue with cold water. A happy sigh escapes her lips, it's been so long since she's gotten a good ocean swim. She wades out to her hips before diving in, slipping through the water like she was born there. A minute or so later, she surfaces with a happy little laugh. Pushing her damp hair away from her face, she revels in the happiness that comes with being in the water, and the memories of swimming with her mother as a child.

Moving In

littleredsiren: (coffee = life)

Perching on the sidewalk outside her new apartment building, Iris chews at her nails, an empty coffee cup behind her and a fresh one in her free hand. Watching the movers bring her new furniture into the building, she can't help but feel the jangle of nerves in her stomach. This will be the first time she's lived on her own and she's both excited and terrified. What if the people are rude? What if they don't like her? What if she can't find a job?

"Augh!" she finally snaps, getting to her feet and calling out to the movers. "I'm going on a walk. Please be careful. I'll bring back coffee!"

Taking a deep breath, she starts off downtown, looking up at the dark sky and praying it doesn't rain until her umbrella is unpacked.

I don't think I have any big things that need to be worked out so... uh... YEAH.

Use this post for:

Iris has only just moved into town, renting a small studio apartment with the money she has left from her parents' inheritance. The apartment is tiny, but she made sure to find one with enough room for a wall of bookshelves she can fill with the ridiculous amount of books she took with her when she moved out.

iris. 25.

Iris was born into one of the oldest siren families in Greece and inherited her mother's powers. Due to an unfortunate car accident when she was only 6, she was shuttled off to family who didn't know about her heritage. Between their emotional abuse and the trauma of the accident, she repressed all memories of having powers. At 25, she finally broke away from them, moving to Siren Cove.
